Older Graphic Designer

Hi, my name is Jack Bloom &
I would like to create something interesting for you.

A great designer is one who knows when his job is done, but a perfectionist makes sure what he has started is finished. I am definitely not a perfectionist but I do strive for something even stronger and more creative than perfection. I strive to make every work of mine something unique and absolutely authentic; I believe in hand crafted design with the influence of technology and organicism.

& without a great understanding in these two seemingly polar ideals, I believe one can never become something as great as an original and thought–provoking artist. Anyway, enough with the seriousness, take a look at my work and report back to me if you like it, or let's talk and I can help you craft a “thought provoking” design to show off to all your friends, and by friends I mean clients.

About Transition

Jack Bloom

So, my name is Jack William Bloom the second, that’s right I am a second (fell short of the third). Anyway, I am a graphic designer or as I like to call them, people who make stuff look good so other people buy their stuff. Graphic design for me is a way of life; I have become encompassed in the world of design. I can't help but drive somewhere without looking at a billboard and saying, "I could have done that better, why did they use Comic sans, what the hell!?" These kind of things come up daily, its mainly due to the fact that there is a lot of bad design in the world, & I am hoping to correct that. Besides graphic design, I also enjoy printmaking and drawing, I think it is nice to get away from the computer every once in a while and develop my skills in the other fine arts. I added some words here because I hate widows.

Personally, I am a pretty laid back guy; I enjoy the simple things in life. One of my other passions besides art is cooking, I love to make just about everything. I think that with cooking comes the understanding of many different things, like measuring, timing, taste, combination, and many other elements. To me being a good chef is about understanding why food works, you cannot simply throw some eggs in a pan and expect to have a good time. One must find out why eggs mature while they are cooking and how they taste all alone without a gob of ingredients thrown in. I guess eggs are like design, simplicity is key, let the eggs speak for themselves and every once in a while use Helvetica for good measure.

Here is what someone said about me, once:

“Hey, did you see Jack the other day? He's a pretty badass graphic designer, not gonna lie!”

Interactive

I make websites with html & CSS, so that they are pretty and make the web look better for photo day at school. Oh, I also throw in some Wordpress, just for management sake.

Print

Print

One of my loves in life is print, as an Older Graphic Designer of course I appreciate all types of print, including letter press. You should see my led-type collection, the ampersands are beautiful.

Branding

Branding

At this point, branding is a given, but it is still a very unique part of the design process. As a designer, I consider myself a brand Sommelier, but with logos and the like.

Illustration

Besides all the graphic designer stuff, I like to dabble in some painting, sketching, and photo manipulation every once in a while. It is probably my favorite area.
